TRIP TO FAIRY MEADOWS AND NANGA PARBAT (BASE CAMP)

Description

Fairy Meadows is a name given to the spectacular, green fields that lie near the Nanga Parbat Mountain in Raikhot Valley, Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Located at an altitude of about 10,800 feet, Fairy Meadows is a starting point for people who wish to scale the mighty Nanga Parbat Mountain, the 9th highest in the world. Fairy Meadows can be reached by a 5 km road trek from the nearby Tattu village. The road to Fairy Meadows was built by Brigadier M. Aslam Khan First Commander of the Gilgit Scouts. A 12 km jeep track from Raikhot bridge on the Karakoram Highway leads to Tattu. Fairy Meadows remains a popular tourist destination in Gilgit-Baltistan from April to September. The Nanga Parbat Mountain sets a gorgeous backdrop for the Fairy Meadows, making it an exciting destination for local and foreign tourists. The meadows are also home to many species of wildlife. Mammals found are brown bears, musk deer, Marco Polo's sheep, red fox, markhor and Himalayan ibex. The area is a visual treat for nature enthusiasts and wildlife photographers.

Nanga Parbat, the “Killer Mountain”, in Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, is the 9th highest mountain in the world. It rises magnificently to a height of at 26,660 feet in the western end of the Himalayas. Nanga Parbat translates from Sanskrit to mean "Naked Mountain". Locals refer to it by its Tibetan name Diamer or Deo Mir, meaning "huge mountain". Nanga Parbat is notorious for being the most difficult mountain to scale. Its prominence, the Rupal face, is the highest mountain face in the world at 15,090 feet. Fairy Meadows in Raikhot Valley, Diamer District, are the starting point for people who wish to climb Nanga Parbat.

Trip Itinerary

DAY 1

(Lahore – Islamabad – Besham – Chilas):- Leave Lahore, Arrival at Islamabad, Lahore Participants join Islamabad Participants at Local Restaurant. Breakfast at Local Restaurant. Breakfast drive towards Chilas. Lunch at PTDC Besham. Continue drive towards destination. Arrived at Shangrila Hotel Chilas. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel.

DAY 2

(Chilas – Raikot Bridge – Tatto Village – Fairy Meadows) Breakfast at hotel. Drive towards Raikot Bridge. Arrival at Raikot Bridge Transport to Tattu Village Start trekking from Tattu Village to Fairy Meadows Arrived at Fairy Meadows Cottage. Lunch will be served at Fairy Meadow Cottage. Sightseeing and photography. Dinner and Overnight stay at Fairy Meadows Cottage.

DAY 3

(Nanga Parbat Base Camp Excursion) Breakfast at Fairy Meadow Huts Trek to Beyal Camp & Nanga Parbat Base Camp Lunch at Beyal Camp / Base Camp Back to Fairy Meadows by evening Dinner and Bonfire at Fairy Meadows Cottage Overnight Stay at Fairy Meadows Cottages

DAY 4

(Fairy Meadows – Tattu Village – Raikot Bridge - Chilas):- Breakfast at Fairy Meadows Cottages. Start trekking from Fairy Meadows to Tattu Village. 4WD Jeeps will take Raikot Bridge Change of transport drive towards Shangrila Hotel Chilas. Lunch at Shangrila Hotel Chilas. Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 5

(Chilas – Islamabad - Lahore)- Breakfast will be served at Shangrila Hotel Chilas. Drive back to Islamabad. Lahore participants continue their drive to the destination
