TRIP TO GORAKH HILLS

Gorakh, a hill station in upper Sindh, is the highest point in the province with an elevation of over 5000 ft, located 94 km northwest of Dadu city. Gorakh Hill station lies in the Kirthar Mountain range and thus has pleasant weather all year round. In winters, Gorakh also receives snowfall. Enroute Gorakh, one passes through some popular places of Sindh such as Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Sehwan city. The journey upwards to Gorakh is undertaken in jeeps and the ride offers a fantastic opportunity to spot some of the famous birds of Sindh, such as the Egret, Lammergeier vulture, Houbara bustard, etc. Sunsets at Gorakh are spectacular— the peaks are imbued with a golden hue, earning Gorakh the nickname of the ‘golden valley’. Gorakh Hills is also a tourist favorite for camping, bonfires and stargazing as the view of mountains all around is breathtaking and the night sky is free from light pollution.
